Mountain. Valley. Terrace.

Mountain. Valley. Terrace. is a scheme all about connections: Connections to the street, connections to outdoor spaces, and connections for access.

Each of the six units in this scheme, including the units that occupy the upper two floors, have front doors within steps of the sidewalk. This connection to the street encourages connections between neighbors, promotes safety, and creates a richer public realm.

The terraced form delivers several benefits: It increases the surface area for capturing and storing rainwater, it brings more light into each of the interior spaces, and it creates more connections to outdoor spaces. Nearly every living and sleeping room in the project has direct access to a roof deck - most of which feature generous planters.

In this design, the two identical structures face the flanking street and are connected by a shared elevator. This elevator provides access to the top three floors, making the upper-most units (and even the rooftop patio) reachable by folks requiring mobility assistance.
